"Providing Innovative Technical Support"

"I can't think of enough superlatives to describe both Evey's materials and presentations! She has a wealth of information about and experience with adult education practitioners and their students, a great warmth and sense of humor, and a superb ability to get her ideas across in hands?on, practical ways. She teaches people to think, inspires their creativity, and affirms them. Both her materials and her methods are tremendously successful with students, teachers, and tutors."
Gail V. Rice, Adult Literacy Consultant and Author of Designing Your Own ABE Materials.

GreatStart5 Intake and Support Kit for Literacy Programs

Orientation Training Assessment Support

For Tutors, Students, Staff and Trainers

GreatStart5® includes products and serviced that are a remarkably innovative approach to train and support tutors, staff and trainers. It includes intake and support materials for tutors, students, managers and trainers. The kit includes; the GreatStart5® Tutor Training Video; training materials for tutors and students; technical support for staff, trainers, students and tutors; a Web site that can keep tutors and students busy with great activities and resources; a special section online for the support of trainers and program staff rich in resources and materials.

GreatStart5® has a simple purpose; to prvide your program with materials and resources for intake and support of staff, students and tutors, so you can prepare prospective tutors and students to work together to sharpen the student's literacy skills.

The GreatStart5® Tutor Training video prepares a new tutor with the basics needed to get started. Additional training, for example, through inservices, should be scheduled to introduce resource center materials, additional activities and conference opportunities. Additional support will be needed by the tutor.

GreatStart5® includes several publications linked to orientation, training assessment and support. To insure you and your program get the most from these materials, we recommend you review the information here to get started.
